Today, I'm going to share a little winter inspiration. As I sit here and enjoy an official "snow day" with my kiddos, I have some recent winter wonderland photos to share with you. Winter weddings can be so lovely. Elegant with silver and white. Rustic chic with pine and evergreen. Glamorous with gold and rich red.
Although the following photos are not about a wedding, they offer some wonderful ideas for winter wonderland. This week I had the privilege of working with a fun-loving group of women on a special dinner concert at Lakeshore Christian Church. The goal was to transform the auditorium into a winter wonderland on a limited budget. Here is how we did it:
We had a very large entry way that led up to the auditorium. So we hung strings of giant snowflakes from the ceiling along the walkway up to the doors. (A beautiful alternative would be to project snowflakes using a custom gobo and speciality lighting.) The walls were also lined with white trees strung with twinkle lights.
We used lots and lots of candle light throughout the space. To help with the budget, we used all types of clear glass votive holders that we borrowed from friends and bought at discount stores.
We chose to use two types of centerpieces throughout. Using borrowed glassware and repurposed branches (from my backyard), I created these white branch arrangements and added a bit of sparkle with acrylic gems.
For the second centerpiece design, we borrowed all types of blue glass containers and filled them with single stems of white football mums. The white against the cobalt blue was GORGEOUS!
Some of the blue glassware was actually bowls, so we just floated the giant fluffy blooms and lit them from underneath with floralytes.
And, just who was the featured artist at the concert? The F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S. Charmaine! Her newest album is due to release this spring and we were treated to an awesome preview. Click here for more info on Charmaine.
I'm Amy, and I love to plan and design events! Weddings, parties, corporate events - whatever the occasion, I love to make it fabulous. Thanks for stopping by! It's nice to meet you!
