Over the past few months, I have been working with a sweet couple who will be married this Sunday. Early on, Alex decided she wanted a wedding full of vintage charm and easy elegance. So the search began for details! One little beauty that we both love is this sweet ribbon chandelier. Complete instructions (with detailed photos) can be found here. Thanks to The Bride's Cafe and her very talented DIY contributors, you can make your own chandelier, too!
We made a few small changes to our design plan. First, we used satin ribbon instead of the recommended acetate. This was a little more challenging to work with, but was well worth the effort. You see, Alex and Johnny are both professional ballroom dancers with extensive backgrounds in ballet. So, Alex special-ordered ballet ribbon (that's used to lace ballet shoes) for her chandelier. Like I said, not especially easy to use, but well worth the effort because it means so much to this sweet couple.
Another change I had to make was in the type of rings we used for the frame. The instructions recommend metal craft rings. Well, we couldn't find any in our local craft stores, so I used wooden embroidery hoops instead. I separated the rings of the hoop and used the inside ring (the one without the metal screw attached).
Drumroll please ....... The oh-so-lovely chandelier. We plan to hang this little beauty above the dessert table.
I'm Amy, and I love to plan and design events! Weddings, parties, corporate events - whatever the occasion, I love to make it fabulous. Thanks for stopping by! It's nice to meet you!
